Job Description
Deputy Director (Exempt) for the Regulatory Commission of Alaska (RCA) reporting directly to the Chair of the RCA. The Deputy Director directs the operations of the RCA through its management structure, works closely with the Commissioners as the Commission sets policies, goals, and objectives, and is responsible for executing Commission directives via the RCA’s management team. The position acts on behalf of the Chair, managing the overall docket caseload, adjudicatory process, day‑to‑day administrative operations, and ensuring compliance with statutory timelines.

Direct RCA operations and manage overall docket caseload.
Execute Commission directives through the RCA’s management team.
Act on behalf of the Chair in managing adjudicatory process and administrative operations.
Ensure agency compliance with all statutory timelines.
Qualifications
Administration and Management: Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions, resource allocation, and production.
Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: Uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities, drawing on experience and additional resources as necessary.
Decision Making: Makes sound, well‑informed, and objective decisions; perceives impact, commits to action, and causes change.
Minimum Qualifications The position is in the exempt service in accordance with AS 39.25.110(9). Employees appointed to exempt positions are exempt from the usual recruitment process and serve at the discretion of the appointing authority.
