RESPIRATORY THERAPIST Responsibilities

Fulfills the needs of the patients, families and community by performing a variety of routine and intensive therapy, diagnostic procedures and patient assessments in accordance with his/her licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements.

Maintains and stocks respiratory equipment. Ensures ventilator and life support equipment are operable.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Effective interpersonal skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities.

Basic computer skills and customer service skills required.

Must be able to identify and competently address needs of population served.

A minimum of 0 to 1 year full time experience as a Certified Respiratory Therapist in an acute care setting.

Qualifications

Graduation from an approved two-year respiratory therapist program

Licensed by the District of Columbia Health Regulation

Licensed as an RRT Registered Respiratory Therapist and certified by NBRC.

Licensed as a CRT Certified Respiratory Therapist or RRT (to become registered within a year)

Registered Respiratory Therapist and approved by NBRC

BLS Basic Life Support for Health Care Professionals required

ACLS and PALS within six months of hire

Excellent critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.

Strong organizational and attention to detail.
