Job Summary: The EHS Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining programs that ensure a safe and environmentally compliant workplace. This role supports continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance by identifying risks, conducting audits, and driving corrective actions, supporting training and required reporting.
Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, Cal/OSHA).
Support hazard communication program, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical labeling, storage, and handling procedures.
Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses; track and ensure closure of corrective actions.
Coordinate and conduct EHS training for employees and contractors.
Maintain and submit required environmental and safety reports and permits.
Monitor workplace conditions and conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into operations and projects.
Support sustainability initiatives and waste reduction programs.
Serve as the point of contact for regulatory agencies and emergency response.
Required Skills & Abilities
Experience with EHS management systems and reporting tools.
Knowledge of EHS regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
Bilingual skills (if applicable to the workforce).
ISO 14001, ISO 45001 knowledge is a plus.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
2–5 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Certification such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM is a plus.
