Job Overview Continental Tide is seeking an experienced and skilled Pipefitter. The successful candidate will join our Fleet Services Group performing ship repair, modernization, and Alteration Installation Team (AIT) projects on board ships and submarines.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Apply craft for layout and fit‑up; install and maintain piping systems on board ships and submarines, including steam, heat, power, hydraulics, compressed air, seawater, freshwater, and chilled water systems.
Braze pipe items to support on‑site installations, fitting and assembling parts into complete assemblies, and verify dimensions and alignment.
Plan layout of piping systems following blueprints to meet specifications, holes, and obstructions.
Measure and cut bore holes in bulkheads and decks for piping installation.
Demonstrate procedural knowledge of pipe bending and shaping; operate shop machines to cut and thread pipe and fittings.
Test installed systems using hydrostatic or comparable pressure tests to confirm integrity after repairs or installation.
Apply knowledge of piping materials based on drawings or blueprints.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
High school diploma, trade or vocational school degree.
5–10 years of direct experience in ship repair and installation of Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) systems and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret ship installation drawings, specifications, and NAVSEA Standard Items is preferred.
Must possess or be able to obtain a SECRET clearance.
Must obtain base access and security credentials.
Ability to lift, carry, and transport at least 30 lb of heavy equipment and boxes.
Ability to work on ladders, in extreme temperatures, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions, and in confined spaces.
Travel may be required within and outside the continental U.S.
Role is open to U.S. citizens only due to export control regulations.
