Principal Accountant – Technical Accounting
Job Role: Principal Accountant $125K to $145K
Base Pay Range $125,000.00/yr – $145,000.00/yr
Location Minneapolis, MN | Hybrid
Compensation $125,000–$145,000 + bonus

The Principal Accountant – Technical Accounting will serve as a go‑to technical expert, partnering closely with accounting leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders across the company.
Reporting into a senior accounting leader, this position offers consistent exposure to executive leadership and the opportunity to influence high‑impact decisions. Candidates with a strong foundation in public accounting or those who began their careers in public accounting and transitioned into industry will be especially well‑positioned for success.
Essential Responsibilities
Evaluate complex transactions and provide technical accounting guidance under U.S. GAAP and other applicable standards.
Research new and emerging accounting guidance and develop position papers and implementation plans.
Support external audit, regulatory reviews, and internal control initiatives.
Serve as a technical resource to finance, accounting, and business partners across the organization.
Lead or participate in special projects related to accounting policy, system implementations, and financial reporting.
Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities for complex or non‑routine areas.
Communicate accounting impacts, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership.
Provide mentoring and technical guidance to other accounting and finance professionals.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
6–10 years of progressive accounting and reporting experience.
Current or prior public accounting experience strongly preferred.
CPA or CPA‑eligible strongly preferred.
Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Experience supporting large, complex organizations preferred.
Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
