SUMMARY: We are currently seeking Entry & Mid-Level Structures & Systems Design Engineers with 3D CAD Design experience (CREO Parametric a plus) to support a spacecraft development program. As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished fast-moving team of experts, you will provide technical expertise and analytical solutions to support the design and development of multiple space vehicles. You will find your excellent collaboration and communication skills are an essential part of the job. You will perform structural design support development of conceptual design phases through to released engineering drawings.
As a Structures and Systems Design Engineer, you will:
Work in an IPT to develop airframe structural configuration layouts
Model initial concepts of new or modified aerostructures using CREO Parametric
Generate and mature design concepts to the customer’s specified level of definition, which may be limited to lofted surface definition and Interface Control Models (ICM), or extend to the development of individual component models, assemblies, and installation models and release of production drawings or MBDs
Work with the Stress analysis group to incorporate structural sizing requirements
Manage the product definition within the Windchill PDM environment
Support the generation and review of reports and presentation materials for internal and customer
EXPECTATIONS: Specific tasks include:
Primary and secondary aerospace structures (metallic and composite)
Control surfaces and actuation systems
Integrated pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical system installations
Cryogenic Fluid Tube Design & Routing
Aerospace mechanical systems
Propulsion system installations
Design applicants should have experience with CAD design specific to working with CREO Parametric or other similar CAD software. Structures & Systems Design Engineers should also be familiar with aerospace structures, aerospace systems or engineering drawing development and release. Applicants should be cognizant of design for weight, producibility, durability, and customer-specific needs. You should also possess good verbal and written communication skills and must function well in a multi-disciplinary team. Knowledge in the application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5-2009 drafting standard is a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Understanding of aerospace engineering principles, aerospace primary structures or concepts related to metallic and composite aircraft systems and structures
CREO Parametric is a plus, need to be able to model both in 2D and 3D
Experience Performing Systems/Structural Layouts, including presentations at PDR/CDR
Experience Leading Systems/Structural Layouts is a plus
LOCATION: The TLG office is in Seattle, Washington and roles will be primarily hybrid-based work environments which will consist of both onsite and work-from-home options. Each project would be dependent upon the role and experience.
EXPERIENCE: Design Engineer: 1 to 4 years of applied experience
ITAR Compliance – U.S. Persons Requirement: U.S. citizenship or a ‘Green Card’ is required. Applicants must be able to show proof of U.S. citizenship or a ‘Green Card’ as part of the ability to meet ITAR Compliance standards. TLG Aerospace is an ITAR (International Traffic in Arms) defense manufacturing partner facility that works with government/federal military parts, and military schematic drawings and performs defense services that require our company to ask about U.S. Persons status as part of the verification during the pre-hire process.
EDUCATION: B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or equivalent

SALARY: The base pay for this position ranges from $100,000 to $130,000 per year. Please note this salary information is a general guideline only. Salaries are based on candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
