Overview Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at MD Anderson Cancer Center is made up of a talented group of physicians, certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) and others dedicated to providing the very best anesthesia and pain medicine care for our cancer patients. Our department team focuses on excellence in all areas of our practice, clinical care, research, and education.
Responsibilities Determines an appropriate pre-anesthesia examination has been made by a physician, relevant tests have been completed and a thorough assessment of the patient has been performed. Develops a plan of care based on assessment, interpretation, anticipated procedure, and essential equipment. Coordinates with appropriate health care providers. Administers anesthetic agents and adjunctive therapeutics. Monitors physiological responses and takes corrective action to maintain or stabilize the patient's condition. Provides resuscitative care. Records pertinent information on the patient's records. Terminates anesthesia. Provides patients with post-anesthesia care.
Education Required: Degree requirements as defined by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners (TSBNE) for clinical licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN)
Current State of Texas Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license recognizing the certification for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse CRNA (APRN-CRNA)
Certification or recertification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
May be required: Authorization for limited prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing.
Salary $200,000 - minimum
