Job Summary GGC invites applicants for an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry faculty position with expertise in biochemistry and/or molecular biology, starting August 1, 2026. The candidate will report to the Chair of the Biological Sciences Department and will teach a variety of undergraduate biology courses—including biochemistry, advanced biochemistry, and general biology—for biology majors and non‑majors. Depending on the candidate’s expertise, occasional teaching of upper‑level biology courses such as Biotechnology, Microbiology, and Genetics may be expected. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, student engagement, research, and service to the college and community.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate biology courses in biochemistry, advanced biochemistry, general biology for majors and non‑majors.
Potentially teach upper‑level courses in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Genetics, etc., based on expertise.
Engage students in active learning and foster a positive learning environment.
Participate in departmental service, advising, and mentoring, as expected of all faculty.
Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and institutional improvement.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the department chair.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related field, completed on or before the semester of the start date.
Minimum of 18 graduate credit hours within the discipline.
Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate biology courses.
Commitment to promoting access to higher education for all students.
Strong record of scholarship, advising, and mentoring.
Evidence of innovative teaching practices and commitment to student engagement.
