Hartford Hospital is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join their Surgical Critical Care team. The Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are an essential part of the multidisciplinary team that plans and delivers care for complex surgical and trauma patients in the ICU. The critical patient population includes complex trauma, transplant, vascular, general surgery, neurosurgery, interventional radiology and other critical care patients as the service needs dictate. Hartford HealthCare supports Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants through the Office of Advanced Practice directed by Sarah Clark, MBA, MHS, PA‑C, BSN, RN, System Director of Advanced Practice. Role Scope
Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Advanced Practitioners perform routine physical examinations and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients. In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, they develop plans for further evaluation of health needs. Advanced Practitioners provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols and identify problems outside of their scope of practice and refer appropriately to physician. Licensure: Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible) Training: Certified or board‑eligible Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Minimum 1‑2 years of recent critical care experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in an ICU setting Proven ability to independently manage ICU patients, including proficiency in ventilator management, resuscitation, and performing critical care procedures within the APP scope of practice Comfortable working independently in a night shift environment Interested candidates please contact Victor Rodriguez, Advanced Practice Recruiter, at 959‑xxxx‑xxxx.
