Base pay range $100,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr
Automation & Controls Engineering Principal Consultant – West Coast Key Responsibilities
Develop, configure, and maintain robotic control systems for automated production lines.
Program and integrate ABB robotic arms for various applications (e.g., welding, material handling, assembly).
Design and implement control logic using Allen Bradley/Rockwell PLCs and associated hardware.
Perform system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis for robotic and PLC systems.
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to ensure seamless integration.
Optimize robotic paths, cycle times, and safety protocols to improve efficiency and reliability.
Document system configurations, wiring diagrams, and programming standards.
Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field.
3+ years of experience in industrial automation and robotics programming.
Proficiency in ABB RobotStudio and IRC5 controller programming.
Strong experience with Allen Bradley/Rockwell PLCs, including RSLogix 5000/Studio 5000.
Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, ProfiNet).
Knowledge of safety standards (ANSI/RIA, ISO) for robotic systems.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills
Experience with HMI development (FactoryTalk View or similar).
Knowledge of vision systems and sensor integration.
Familiarity with other robotic platforms (Fanuc, KUKA) is a plus.
Strong project management and documentation skills.
