Job Title Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location Madison, WI

Employment Type Direct Hire, Full-time

Schedule Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

Pay $100,000.00/yr - $120,000.00/yr (plus annual bonus)

Summary Connect Search is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Madison.

Responsibilities

Design and develop custom automation systems, including mechanical components, machinery, and integrated solutions tailored to client needs.

Manage all phases of automation projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure, while adhering to scope, schedule, and budget constraints.

Collaborate with engineering teams, clients, and stakeholders to define project requirements, specifications, and deliverables.

Perform technical analysis, simulations, and testing to ensure system reliability, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.

Oversee procurement of materials, equipment, and third-party services, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.

Coordinate with manufacturing, electrical, and software teams to integrate mechanical designs with control systems and automation software.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers and team members.

Prepare detailed project documentation, including design drawings, reports, and user manuals.

Identify and mitigate project risks, resolving issues promptly to maintain progress and client satisfaction.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental guidelines.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

5+ years of experience in mechanical design, automation, or manufacturing engineering.

2+ years of project management experience, preferably in custom automation, machinery, or robotics projects.

Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and engineering simulation tools.

Strong understanding of automation technologies, including robotics, PLCs, and control systems.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with excellent organizational and leadership skills.

Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client and team collaboration.

PMP certification or similar project management credential is a plus.

Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is an advantage.

Occasional travel to client sites or vendor locations may be required.
