Overview Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for University Initiatives/Director of the Hilleman Scholars Program, the Associate Director for Hilleman Scholar Success provides leadership to advance MSU’s Hilleman Scholars signature program. The role focuses on recruiting, retaining, and graduating scholars, fostering innovation, and supporting students through coaching, case management, and partnership development.
Duties and Responsibilities
Create and support appropriate case management models for each year of the program.
Plan and coordinate the scholar experience for the Summer Success Academy.
Hire, manage, train, supervise and mentor student employees and scholars mentors.
Identify, drive, and develop best practices, efficiencies, and workflows to improve retention & graduation.
Conduct crucial conversations with scholars to troubleshoot and promote belonging.
Communicate scholar needs, project status, risks, and strategy with teammates and campus partners.
Collaborate with the Access & Success team to resource tutoring and advising.
Provide internship planning and professional development related to Projects of Consequence.
Ensure scholars engage in FLOW Zones, tutoring, and study cycle training.
Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, and balance program needs.
Maintain a system of red/yellow/green metrics for academic outcomes.
Plan, manage, and attend Hilleman Scholar Monday night classes and meetings.
Assist with donor/investor development activities.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated experience in program development, management, implementation, and assessment.
Proficient with personal computers and common office software.
Strong data analysis, problem‑solving, and project management abilities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with diverse constituencies.
Experience in a fast‑paced environment requiring continuous innovation.
Ability to bring stakeholders together to move projects forward.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Master’s degree.
Experience with project or case management, social work.
Ability to coordinate multiple initiatives while engaging various constituents.
Experience developing written content for donors, foundations, students.
Grant writing or report preparation experience.
Event or program planning under constraints.
Advanced spreadsheet and word processing proficiency.
Successful Candidate Will
