Position Title: Academic Advisor II (Success Advisor)

Salary: $20.49 - $25.61 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications

Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct one‑on‑one and group advising appointments with students referred through Navigate/Early Alert, Residence Life, MSU 101, CARE team, or self‑referral.
Help students decode university resources and develop strategies—time‑management, learning strategies, goal‑setting—to enhance academic success.
Provide student‑facing instruction via workshops, strategy clinics, classroom lectures, and assistance with US 103 Learning Strategies course.
Connect students with learning‑management instruction and support to increase retention and degree completion.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent through education/experience.
Experience in student advising at post‑secondary level or career/professional coaching.
Demonstrated program delivery skills and professionalism.
Technical competence with personal computers and common software (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, relational databases).
Experience working in a fast‑paced office setting.
Ability to troubleshoot problems and engage in candid conversations with students.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
Experience facilitating small‑group workshops and classes.
Knowledge of higher‑education trends and workforce development.
Understanding of teaching and learning pedagogy.
Knowledge of higher‑education system and related services.
Candidate Attributes

Strong interpersonal, communication, and technology skills.
Independent and team‑oriented problem‑solving.
Integrity and commitment to confidentiality.
Ability to troubleshoot and mentor students from diverse backgrounds.
