Senior Specialist, EHS

Your Role As the Senior Specialist - Environmental, Health & Safety, you will lead and support EHS management in the development, implementation, and monitoring of programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. You will also investigate incident root causes, implement corrective actions, and support injury prevention initiatives.
What You’ll Be Doing
Monitor workplace environment and ensure appropriate corrective action for hazards.
Develop and oversee EHS training programs for employees in areas such as employee‑right‑to‑know, hazardous material handling, laser safety, emergency response, industrial hygiene, and life safety.
Plan and schedule work to meet deadlines independently and use judgment in data analysis to develop solutions to difficult health and safety problems.
Perform traditional EHS duties such as job safety analyses, health and safety training, workplace incident investigations, workplace safety inspections and internal audits as directed.
Support site in the management of all hazardous material and hazardous waste activities, including collection, transportation and disposal in compliance with regulations.
Review new hazardous materials, check SDSs and advise end users on proper use and disposal.
Support EHS management in conducting reviews for facility modification, new product development, product modification and new equipment/machinery.
Provide on‑call support for EHS emergencies and lead management in maintaining the facility’s Emergency Action Plans.
Serve as a resource to management and EHS staff on matters relating to occupational health and safety, environmental compliance, fire protection and loss prevention.
Coordinate employee exposure monitoring activities for chemicals and physical agents, manage Industrial Hygiene sampling and support the activities of contract Industrial Hygienists and consultants.
Conduct and coordinate ergonomic risk assessments and make appropriate corrective action recommendations.
Lead the selection, training and maintenance of all volunteer Lab Safety Coordinators.
Coordinate the inspection and procurement of emergency response and disaster preparedness materials and equipment.
Support EHS management in gathering data for the establishment of report metrics pertinent to EHS activities.
Facilitate all Safety Committee and Emergency Response Committee meetings and ensure their ongoing operation and benefit.
Support all company initiatives to comply with FDA regulations, other regulatory requirements, company policies, operating procedures and task assignments.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Health, Safety, Engineering or related field.
Minimum 5 years in the Health and Safety field with hands‑on and program management experience.
Ability to navigate and interpret EHS regulations.
Expected to function with little direction and independently drive complex projects to completion.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate at multiple levels.
Ability to manage multiple projects and daily responsibilities; multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines.
Strong organizational, follow‑up skills and attention to detail.
Nice to Have
Prior experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or chemical industry.
Prior experience with R&D team.
Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross‑division business unit model.
