What you will do at Harris County Precinct 2

Under the general supervision of the Public Works Program Manager, the Roadway Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in supporting the Keep 2 Beautiful initiative within Precinct 2. This position is primarily responsible for the removal of illegally dumped trash and debris from roadway rights‑of‑way, parks, community centers, and other public areas, as well as the identification and removal of bandit signs. These duties are performed with the goal of enhancing community cleanliness, safety, and visual appeal. Duties and Responsibilities

Support efforts to remove illegally dumped trash and debris from roadway rights‑of‑way, parks, community centers, and other public spaces Routinely patrol designated areas to identify and remove unauthorized signage (“bandit signs”) to maintain visual integrity and compliance with local ordinances Assist with general road maintenance tasks including pothole patching, asphalt repairs, and vegetation control to ensure safe and accessible public infrastructure Safely operate light construction equipment such as pickup trucks, power tools, and hand tools; support Grappler Truck, Vacuum Truck, and Street Sweeper operations by assisting with loading, unloading, traffic control, and site preparation—without operating the equipment directly Set up road signs, barricades, and traffic control measures for construction and cleanup operations, ensuring safety for both workers and the public Conduct daily pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, report repairs, and maintain cleanliness of vehicles, tools, and work areas Perform any additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned by management or as necessitated by the evolving needs of the organization Harris County is an Equal Opportunity Employer Equal Employment Opportunity Plan: https://hrrm.harriscountytx.gov/Pages/EqualEmploymentOpportunityPlan.aspx If you need special services or accommodations, please call (713) 274-5445 or email ADACoordinator@bmd.hctx.net This position is subject to a criminal history check. High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution Required Licensure

Valid Class “C” Texas driver's license Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Effective teamwork and coordination skills, especially when assisting equipment operators during cleanup operations Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines while assisting with equipment operations and site setup Ability to document activities both written and electronic Ability to work in a professional manner with all levels of management, staff, and public NOTE:
