Overview
We are located at 5990 W Chino Drive, Golden Valley, AZ. Our mission is to construct and maintain county roads accepted by the Mohave County Board of Supervisors as county highways, regularly maintained roads, or tertiary maintained roads, and to provide a safe and economical transportation system for the citizens of Mohave County.
Job Summary Road Maintenance Worker – Starting salary range $18.22 - $22.41/hr.
Work 4 ten‑hour shifts: Monday–Thursday 5:00‑3:30 am (summer) or 6:00‑4:30 am (winter). Overtime and travel may be required. County will cover room costs and per diem for overnight stays when needed. Travel across Mohave County in adverse conditions is expected.

Work Schedule
Four ten‑hour shifts, Monday–Thursday (5:00‑3:30 am summer, 6:00‑4:30 am winter)
Occasional overtime for call‑outs or assistance to Sheriff’s Office
Travel across Mohave County; occasional overnight stay covered by County
Physical Requirements
Work outdoors in varying weather; moderate to strenuous manual labor; exposure to exhaust, chemicals, loud noise.
Ability to lift 25–100 lbs while operating heavy equipment.
Time spent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, bending, climbing ladders, confined spaces.
Travel through terrain 541–8,500 feet high.
Duties / Essential Job Functions
Pothole repair, shoulder maintenance, construction maintenance, crack seal and chip seal (~90‑100 miles of paved roadway annually), soil stabilization, dirt road grading, sweeping, culvert and cattle guard cleanup, guardrail repair, right‑of‑way weed control, snow removal.
Operate hand and power tools: jackhammer, drills, compressors, chain saw, mower, shovel, rake, weed eater.
Operate and service light to medium equipment: tandem axle truck, front end loaders, rollers, sweepers, water truck, light single‑axle truck, rubber tire roller, jackhammer, hand tools.
Receive training on heavy equipment such as backhoe, dozer, water truck, motor grader, laydown machine, and other related machinery.
Adhere to safety procedures, clean and maintain equipment, follow all regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Special Job Requirements
Must pass a drug screen post‑offer.
Must obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s License within six (6) months of hire date.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Road maintenance and repair methods.
Operation and servicing of light and medium equipment.
Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances, including Arizona's Blue‑Stake law.
Safety hazards, practices, and procedures.
Use and care of equipment, tools, and materials.
Drive a manual shift transmission.
Learn safe operation of light to heavy equipment.
