Road Maintenance Worker – Mohave County Public Works, Roads Division
Location: 9910 Vanderslice Road, Mohave Valley, AZ.
Our mission is to construct and maintain county roads accepted by the Mohave County Board of Supervisors as county highways, regularly maintained roads, or tertiary maintained roads, and to provide a safe and economical transportation system for the citizens of Mohave County.
Job Summary Mohave County Roads Division seeks to fill two Road Maintenance Worker positions.
Starting salary: $18.22 per hour.
Schedule: Four ten‑hour shifts, Monday‑Thursday, 5:00 am‑3:30 pm in summer or 6:00 am‑4:30 pm in winter. Occasional overtime for call‑outs, Sheriff’s Office traffic closures, weather events, and travel to assist crews throughout the county.
Travel may be required, including overnight stays for which the county will cover room costs and per diem. Work involves operating county vehicles in adverse traffic, terrain, and altitude conditions ranging from 541 to 8,500 feet.
Work is outdoors performing moderate to strenuous manual labor in varying weather, including strong winds, extreme heat, and extreme cold. Tasks include exposure to exhaust, chemical fumes, oil, grease, hazardous materials, and loud equipment noise.
Physical requirements: Frequent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, bending, ladder climbing, and confined spaces. Must be able to move and/or lift 25 lb up to 100 lb or more while operating heavy equipment.

Essential Job Functions
Work schedule may vary with call‑backs, overtime, and irregular assignments, including weekends and holidays.
Perform road maintenance and repair tasks, operating jackhammers, drills, shovels, rakes, and hand tools for patching, sealing, and cleaning.
Utilize hand and power tools, compressors, drills, chainsaws, mowers, shovels, rakes, and weed eaters.
Operate and service light to medium equipment: medium‑tandem axle trucks, front‑end loaders, rollers, sweepers, water trucks, and other related equipment.
Receive additional training on heavy equipment as needed.
Adhere to safety procedures in all work areas.
Maintain and service required equipment and tools.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience considered in meeting the minimum requirements.
Special Job Requirements
Must pass a drug screen after offer.
Must be able to obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s License within six (6) months from hire date.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Road maintenance and repair methods.
Hand tools, operation and servicing of light and medium equipment.
Traffic laws, ordinances, and regulations for equipment operation, including Arizona’s Blue Stake law.
Safety hazards, practices, and procedures related to road maintenance and repair work and heavy equipment operation.
Use and care of equipment, tools, and materials.
Safe, effective operation and servicing of light to medium equipment and heavy equipment as trained.
Drive a manual‑shift transmission.
Learn safe, effective operation of light to heavy equipment.
