Part-time Building Brains Afterschool Program Leader Gwinnett County Government is seeking a part‑time Building Brains Afterschool Program Leader to assist the afterschool director in planning and implementing daily programming for children. The position is part‑time with up to 1,508 hours per year and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits.

Responsibilities

Assist the afterschool director with development and coordination of a program calendar and orientation for parents and students.

Serve as a liaison between parents, staff, and school personnel, conferring on student performance and behavior.

Maintain program standards of student behavior, resolve disputes, and refer serious discipline problems to supervisors.

Interact with children in a friendly and supportive manner to promote self‑esteem, social skills, and provide general guidance.

Demonstrate and assist students with art projects and oversee physical activities such as basketball, kickball, softball, dodgeball, and running.

Perform routine first aid, enforce health and safety rules, and administer CPR in emergencies per established procedures.

Keep the program environment clean and organized, and involve students in cleaning and organizing before, during, and after use.

Handle clerical duties including preparing, typing, duplicating, filing materials, logging information, creating records, answering telephones, scheduling activities, and enrolling students.

Operate various supplies and equipment such as athletic gear, arts and crafts materials, and office equipment.

Assist with budgeting, expenditures, and inventory of equipment and supplies.

Collaborate to develop and implement a public relations agenda to promote student enrollment and communicate program objectives.

Participate in staff meetings and assist with in‑service training as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Public Speaking Duties

Lead or facilitate educational programs for 10 to 25 students.

Interact with groups of students with patience, tact, and diplomacy.

Other Requirements

Fingerprinting required.

Must be able to lift 50 lb.

Driver's license.

CPR and First Aid certifications required within first 90 days of employment.

Hourly rate:

$16.80 per hour

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

One year of experience working in an organized camp, afterschool, daycare, or similar setting with school‑aged children. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties will also be considered.
