The Village of Cherry Valley - Public Works Maintenance Worker
Job Summary The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of parks, streets, buildings, equipment, and the water department facilities within the Village of Cherry Valley. This position requires a proactive approach to maintaining public spaces, infrastructure, and resources to ensure safety, cleanliness, and functionality for the community.
Key Responsibilities Parks Maintenance:
Mow lawns, trim trees and shrubs, and maintain flower beds.
Inspect and repair playground equipment and park facilities.
Ensure cleanliness by removing trash and debris from parks and streets as needed.
Street Maintenance
Perform street repairs, including patching potholes and sealing cracks.
Maintain street signage and paint markings.
Assist with snow removal and de-icing during winter months
Building Maintenance
Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of village buildings.
Perform minor repairs, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks.
Ensure cleanliness and safety of public facilities.
Equipment Maintenance
Perform routine maintenance on public works vehicles and equipment.
Report and assist in the repair of mechanical issues.
Maintain inventory of tools and supplies.
Water Department Maintenance
Assist in the operation and maintenance of water distribution systems.
Perform regular inspections and maintenance of water lines, valves, and hydrants.
Ensure compliance with safety and health standards.
Qualifications Maintenance Worker 1
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license; Class B, CDL preferred.
Experience in maintenance, construction, or a related field.
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
Ability to operate various tools and equipment safely.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
Salary Range: $21 - $25/hour.

Abillity to obtain an Illinois Class C Water Operator’s License.
Maintenance Worker 2
All Maintenance Worker 1 requirements plus the following:
Salary Range: $25 - $28/hour.
A minimum of 5 years of relative experience.
A valid Class B CDL.
Abillity to obtain an Illinois Class C Water Operator’s License.

Yr. 10 through 14 is 120 Hours
Max balance is 200 Hours.

2 personal days, used from sick balance.

Option to convert overtime hours to paid leave hours.
