Parts Worker - Vehicle Maintenance

Responsibilities
Procure, receive, issue, identify, store and maintain inventory of parts, materials and tools; log parts issued to proper work orders and post orders into computer; research, locate and order parts for mechanics and provide technical support to the mechanical repair staff, shop foreman, user department liaisons and assigned supervisory or management staff.

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
High school diploma or GED supplemented by thirty (30) credit hours college level course work in business or inventory control; and
Two (2) years of inventory control experience.
Additional Requirements Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Principles and practices of warehousing and inventory control Principles and procedures of record keeping Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment Operational characteristics of standard warehouse equipment including a forklift Occupational hazards and standard safety practices Basic mathematical principles
Organize, stock and issue supplies and equipment Maintain accurate records Operate appropriate equipment including a forklift Perform simple arithmetic computations Operate a computer to order appropriate parts Respond to requests and inquiries from City personnel Work independently in the absence of supervision Prepare a variety of reports Understand and follow oral and written instructions Perform heavy manual labor Communicate clearly and concisely Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
