Job Purpose:
To operate forklifts safely and efficiently; handle all freight inbound or outbound properly and orderly; maintain warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping; load/unload RJW trucks/trailers and outside carriers safely using proper procedures; ensure all shipments are correctly staged, checked, and loaded; and correctly store stock in the warehouse. Work from warehouse operations sheets using a forklift to pick customer orders and load on trailers, maintaining forklift safety at all times following all safety policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assists Warehouse Manager to ensure efficient operation of the warehouse.
Ability to operate sit‑down forklift and/or walk‑ie rider.
General understanding of computers and handheld RF equipment.
Loads and unloads RJW trucks/trailers safely and efficiently using proper procedures, including outside carriers equipment.
Flexible to work 10 to 12‑hour shifts when necessary and not afraid of heights.
Picking and moving stock from 1 lb. to 50 lbs. multiple times.
Ensures all shipments are correctly staged and loaded properly.
Maintains warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping.
Processes outbound cross‑dock freight as necessary.
Oversees storing stock properly in the warehouse and moves product into storage racks.
Works from warehouse operations sheets using a forklift to pick customer orders and load on trailers.
Records and verifies the accuracy of shipments against the paperwork for incoming and outgoing shipments/deliveries.
Ensures all documentation and paperwork is properly completed.
Operates forklifts safely and efficiently following all OSHA regulations, RJW safety policies, and procedures.
Completes daily forklift maintenance inspections.
Handles all customer products properly and orderly.
Checks deliveries for poor packing, general condition of materials, and free of damage. Alerts Warehouse Supervisor of any problems, taking pictures if necessary.
Reports all accidents/ incidents, employee damage of stock, or building damage to the Shift Supervisor immediately.
Spotting of trailers to maintain efficient yard organization and flow of equipment for the day.
Maintains access to dock doors both inside and outside the facility, keeping them free of debris or snow.
Other tasks as assigned by manager.
(Note: seatbelts must be worn at all times while operating the forklift.)
Additional Responsibilities
Possesses a sense of urgency, accountability, and can work with limited supervision.
General understanding of computers and handheld RF equipment.
Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
Attention to detail and quality a must.
Good communication, clear and concise, problem resolution, and people skills.
Flexibility in working overtime when needed, and providing coverage to other shifts.
PC skills helpful.
Major experience on sit‑down forklifts/EPJs.
Experience in building pallets with stock and breaking down stock to fill independent orders.
Experience in cross‑docking freight process.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced warehouse.
Qualifications
3-6 months of forklift driving experience in a warehouse using sit‑down forklifts and electric pallet jacks.
Good stable work record.
Education and/or Experience Required
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
Warehousing certifications a plus.
