Parks Maintenance Summer Seasonal Worker The City of Cedarburg Parks & Forestry Department is accepting applications for a seasonal Parks Maintenance Worker. Under the supervision of the Parks and Forestry Superintendent, this person performs maintenance of City parks, ball diamonds, athletic fields, boulevards, and grounds. Job duties include mowing, trimming, and general parks, ball diamonds, and landscape maintenance. A working knowledge of grounds related equipment (riding mowers, push mowers, rototillers, blowers, edgers, string trimmers, etc.) and grounds maintenance experience is preferred. Must possess a valid State of Wisconsin Driver’s License. The starting wage for this position is $15.00 per hour based on qualifications and experience. This is a Monday‑Friday, 40‑hour per week position from mid‑May/early‑June through late August.

Maintains downtown flower baskets and beds, including watering, fertilizing and deadheading.

Plants, and maintains City flower beds, including watering, fertilizing, deadheading and cultivating.

Assists with maintenance of turf, shrubs and trees on City boulevards.

Operates a variety of small hand and power tools including sprayers, rakes, hoes, shovels, lawnmowers, edgers, tillers, trimmers, and other similar equipment.

Prepares equipment for the day.

Assists in loading gas cans, mowers and other equipment onto trucks/trailers.

Secures all equipment.

Maintains and correctly uses issued personal protective equipment.

Performs maintenance on properties.

Safely operates equipment with all necessary personal protective equipment.

Mows turf using various mowers.

Edges grass at curbs and walkways.

Blows leaves and clippings.

Pulls weeds and string trims as needed.

Cleans site and watches for trash, limbs, and rocks.

Physical demands: Safely performs heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling of various landscaping equipment and materials, including backpack blowers, large containers of mulch/plant material, and lawnmowers.

Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Ability to work with limited supervision.

Ability and willingness to understand and follow oral or written instructions.

Ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and the public.

A working knowledge of grounds related equipment (riding mowers, push mowers, rototillers, blowers, edgers, string trimmers, etc.) and grounds maintenance experience is preferred.

Must possess a Valid Wisconsin Motor Vehicle Driver’s License.

Part‑time employees working over $1,560 per year are eligible for health and dental insurance at 50% of the premium. They are eligible for accumulation of sick leave and vacation pay based on total hours worked in the previous calendar year. Also eligible for Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) if expected to work over $1,200 hours in 12 consecutive months.
