Job Description HR Manager | Walker, MI

Salary Range:

$84,000 - $129,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Walker seeking HR Managers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and retention for production, skilled trades, and administrative staff.

Oversee employee relations, conflict resolution, and grievance procedures, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies.

Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with labor laws and manufacturing safety regulations.

Administer compensation, benefits, and payroll processes, including managing collective bargaining agreements where applicable.

Lead performance management initiatives, training, and development programs focused on manufacturing skills and leadership.

Ensure a safe working environment by collaborating on safety initiatives, incident investigation, and workers' compensation claims.

Conduct workforce planning and succession planning to meet evolving production demands and organizational growth.

Recommended Qualifications

5-7+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Demonstrated expertise in HR generalist functions including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation, and performance management.

In-depth knowledge of federal and state employment laws, safety regulations (e.g., OSHA), and HR best practices.

Proven ability to effectively manage complex employee relations issues, investigations, and conflict resolution.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to partner with plant management and engage a diverse workforce.

Experience developing and implementing HR programs that support operational goals and a positive work culture.

Bonus Qualifications

Experience working in a unionized environment or with collective bargaining agreements.

Demonstrated experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Proficiency in Spanish or another relevant second language.

Prior experience managing HR across multiple manufacturing sites.

Strong background in industrial safety and OSHA compliance.
