Job Overview The Bus Monitor supports students with disabilities during bus pick‑up, drop‑off, and travel to and from school. Hours are split between morning and afternoon shifts, 2‑5 hours daily.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and assist students at pick‑up and drop‑off locations
Meet buses at designated pick‑up and drop‑off locations
Maintain order on the bus with special‑education students
Assist in lifting equipment and children with disabilities in and out of buses
Perform routine first aid and provide care for children with seizures or respiratory disorders
Enforce district policy and procedures, maintaining discipline on buses and at pick‑up locations
Participate in staff development programs as directed
Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications / Physical Requirements
Strength and stamina sufficient to provide required assistance to pupils with disabilities; personality and character traits suited to the supervision and care of pupils with disabilities during bus pick‑ups, drop‑offs, and while enroute.
May be required to exert 20 to 75 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Hearing, speaking, seeing, dexterity and the ability to sit, stand, kneel, bend, and reach for extended periods.
Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced.
