$65,000 VERDANT is a boutique landscape design firm founded in 2001 and headquartered in the Gowanus district in Brooklyn. Our clients range from high end residential gardens throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn to boutique hotels and corporate headquarters. Our projects continually challenge conventional design and redefine the dialogue between landscape and architecture. We are looking for an experienced, hard-working and knowledgeable horticulturist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have the chance to work within a growing business, acquiring invaluable experience on unique and exciting projects. We are seeking someone with a passion for plants, accustomed to working in New York City, who is well versed in working with indoor and outdoor plants, container gardens, backyards, rooftops and terraces. The ideal candidate will have an interest in working both independently on the maintenance of select gardens, and collaboratively on special projects with a team. Perform general maintenance duties and seasonal landscaping work, including: garden openings, cut-backs, pruning, clean-ups, transplanting, leaf removal, training and staking Care for diverse plant materials such as trees, shrubs, climbers, perennials, annuals, herbs, vegetables, grasses, bulbs, and green roofs Monitoring plant health, pest & disease issues, and irrigation systems at each site Ensuring detailed upkeep of high end gardens Report ongoing garden updates on Slack, and general coordination with team members Installation of new projects, including: loading and unloading materials, preparing planters and planting areas, transplanting a variety of plants and trees, etc. Qualifications/Requirements

Minimum 3+ years professional experience in the field of horticulture and detailed knowledge of working in urban gardens in New York Strong plant ID skills and comprehensive understanding of plants and plant care A strong sense of aesthetics and interest in landscape design Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to handling tasks and challenges Knowledge of common pests, diseases and management and treatment methods Familiarity with commonly used irrigation systems a plus Valid Driver's License and clean driving record, comfortable driving a large truck or cargo van Ability to lift objects weighing 50+ lbs Ability to work full-time in gardens across Brooklyn and Manhattan Ability to access scheduling software from a phone Team-player with a sense of humor Additional Information
