Job Title Grounds Event Lead at Keene State College

Job Overview Keene State College Facilities Services invites applications for a Grounds Event Lead to support all campus events, linked to students, staff, athletics, and off‑campus groups. This is a full‑time year‑round position with benefits, and the incumbent will serve as the primary Grounds Department contact in the supervisor’s absence.

Duties/Responsibilities

Assist the Supervisor as Primary Grounds Department Contact in the Supervisor’s Absence (15%): Prioritize and delegate requests, ensure timely completion of work orders, follow up with requestors, assist and direct student help, collaborate with campus constituents, and serve as point of contact for event set‑ups requiring Ground Dept. resources.

Worker – Grounds Liaison (15%): Receive and respond to calls for assistance, communicate with appropriate persons or departments, handle emergencies, and supervise and train student workers.

Work Order Requests: Event Set‑Ups and Planning (30%): Coordinate office and furniture moves, plan event layouts, and coordinate set‑ups with catering and space managers.

Maintenance of a Section of Campus (40%): Oversee seasonal landscape maintenance, mowing, pruning, snow/ice control, training, supervision, and equipment care for Keddy Hall, 361 Main St., The Commons, Pondside 3, Redfern Arts Center, Pondside 1, Pondside 2, and three houses on Appleton.

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience

High School diploma or equivalent

Three years related experience

Required Licenses & Certifications

Valid driver’s license and safe driving record

Defensive Driving Certification within first 6 months

Forklift certification within first year (can be completed through KSC health & safety programs)

NHDOT medical card

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Proven oral and written communication skills

Basic computer skills for email, work order system, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.

Supervisory and interpersonal relationship skills

Willingness to learn new skills/methods

Knowledge of power tools and equipment of the trades

Other Requirements

Position involves heavy lifting, working in varied conditions, and wearing and using appropriate personal protective equipment. A physical exam is required post‑offer.

Weekend and call‑in hours as required.

Complete KSC workshops on rider‑mower safety, tree and shrub pruning techniques, workplace management, and others assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional years of related experience that contribute to departmental needs

Knowledge of KSC campus or other college/university settings

Familiarity with work management systems

Compensation Pay Range $17.57 – $28.96 per hour.

Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

Location Keene, New Hampshire (Scenic Monadnock region).

Approximately 2 hours from Boston or Hartford, CT, and 4 hours from New York City.
