Position Summary
This position is located in St. Cloud, MN and can be performed from any of our Apex offices or remotely within 100 miles of an Apex office location. Key responsibilities include environmental field studies, assisting in authoring NEPA environmental documents, and preparing federal, state, and local permits. The field studies include wetland delineations, avian studies, wildlife surveys, tree/shrub surveys, and require travel to project locations and outdoor work in changing weather conditions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in planning, natural resource management, environmental science, biological science, ecology, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of environmental planning and permitting experience.
Experience with supplemental wetland training, ordinary high-water determinations, biological assessments, and regional assessment methods.
Experience with transportation projects and public agencies in North Dakota and Minnesota preferred.
Proficiency with GPS and GIS software preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
Physical Requirements
Operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions.
Occasional work in outdoor environments.
Lifting and moving up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Work scheduled hours in office or onsite for projects.
Fulfill essential duties and follow reasonable accommodations policy.
Essential Tasks and Duties
Complete wetland, waterbody, and ordinary high-water delineations per USACE manual and supplements.
Write field aquatic resource/wetland delineation reports for USACE submission.
Complete evaluations for wildlife species and assess potential impacts.
Assist in development of reports, documents, and permits.
Operate Trimble GPS equipment for field studies.
Communicate with the public at meetings, informational sessions, and construction notifications.
Make independent, rational judgment calls.
Follow company policies and safety procedures.
Work independently and as part of a team.
Participate in professional organizations and community leadership programs.
Travel, out-of-town stays, and overtime may be required.

Salary Base Salary Pay Range: $65,000 - $85,000. Actual base pay is dependent on factors such as experience, education, licensure, job location, and internal equity.
