The Center for Human Development (CHD) is seeking a Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor for our Adult Community Clinical Services (ACCS). The Counselor will work with dually diagnosed individuals to provide person‑centered, rehabilitative interventions that support recovery. The role includes harm reduction, accessing community resources, and reducing risk. The Counselor will work within the Agency’s ACCS team model, establishing open communication, support, and empathy.
Key Responsibilities
Provide rehabilitative interventions that support person‑centered and recovery‑oriented practice.
Participate in assessment and treatment planning addressing substance use.
Utilize an Electronic Health Record system for documentation.
Safely transport clients in the community and respond effectively to crisis.
Advocate for clients and establish working relationships with stakeholders.
Skills and Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of community resources and agencies.
Proficient computer skills including Word and Excel, and ability to learn new programs.
Familiarity with evidence‑based practices in treatment of client populations.
Ability to establish viable working relationships with appropriate stakeholders.
Ability to safely transport clients and respond to crisis situations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (DC II/III preferred). Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC) background is an asset.
Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle.
Two or more years of experience in an addiction treatment setting, and/or 1–2 years of experience in a mental health‑related treatment program.
Credentials: preferred LADC I; alternatives considered: CADC II, CADC, LADC II, or LPHA.
Benefits
Base salary: $65,000‑$68,000.
$1,000 sign‑on bonus (paid in two installments).
