Job Summary:
The HSE Engineer is responsible for assessing, creating, implementing, driving, presenting, leading, training and maintaining all applicable occupational health, safety, and environmental programs applicable to IEA; to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and local/federal requirements. This role supports the organization in maintaining a safe and environmentally responsible workplace through proactive risk management, compliance audits, continuous improvement initiatives and monitoring performance to ensure compliance with our parent company’s requirements.

Environmental, Health & Safety Expertise
Apply comprehensive knowledge of environmental, occupational health, and safety principles, including hazard and risk assessment, personal protective equipment, behavior-based safety, machine/equipment safety, and confined space entry.
Maintain a detailed understanding of general industry standards and frequently referenced regulatory requirements at local, state, national, and international levels.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations and corporate standards.
Utilize Enablon RCM and Compliance Management tools to monitor and maintain adherence to legal and corporate requirements.
Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
Implement and maintain OHS management systems aligned with recognized standards to drive continuous improvement and integration into business operations.
Risk Management
Conduct risk identification, hazard analysis, and risk assessments for all workstations using HEART (Velocity EHS) software.
Provide training in HEART software to relevant departments and ensure effective execution of risk management strategies.
Incident Investigation
Lead thorough investigations of occupational injuries, illnesses, near misses, and property damage incidents.
Perform root cause analysis (including 5-Why methodology) and develop corrective actions.
Record incidents and action plans in Enablon per corporate requirements, including COMET implementation.
System Safety
Apply system safety engineering principles throughout design, testing, operations, and maintenance phases.
Utilize hazard analysis tools and techniques to ensure safe system performance.
Ergonomic Assessments
Conduct ergonomic evaluations using HumanTech (Velocity EHS) software to identify and mitigate risks related to posture, workstation setup, task demands, and environmental factors.
Recommend adjustments to improve employee comfort, efficiency, and safety.
Training Development and Delivery
Design and deliver training programs on HEART, HumanTech, and Enablon software for all relevant departments.
Maintain a comprehensive training matrix for all positions and ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements.
HSE Project Prioritization
Establish and manage a structured system for prioritizing HSE projects, including hazard assessments, corrective actions, and activity tracking.
Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to align expectations and deadlines for continuous improvement initiatives.
Metrics and Reporting
Compile and submit monthly HSE performance metrics for IEA facilities using Enablon.
Monitor progress and report on compliance and improvement activities.
Audits and Self-Assessments
Conduct internal audits and self-assessments utilizing Enablon Audit functionality to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
Committees
Support and actively participate in all HSE committee initiatives and meetings, providing expert advice, guidance, and recommendations to ensure compliance and continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental standards.
