Job Summary The Safety Coordinator supports the Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining effective health, safety, and environmental programs within a large-diameter pipe manufacturing facility . This role plays a key part in fostering a proactive safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, reducing risk, and protecting employees, contractors, the community, and company assets.
Key Responsibilities Safety & Health
Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA, NFPA , and company standards.
Conduct routine safety inspections, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) , and risk assessments across production areas, maintenance shops, and storage yards.
Lead or support incident and near-miss investigations , identify root causes, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and closed in a timely manner.
Deliver and coordinate safety training including new hire orientation, lockout / tagout, confined space entry , and other required programs.
Monitor and enforce PPE compliance and safe work practices.
Track and report safety performance metrics such as TRIR, near-miss reports, and safety observations to leadership.
Promote employee engagement and participation in safety initiatives and continuous improvement.
Environmental Compliance
Ensure compliance with EPA, state, and local environmental regulations , including air emissions, stormwater, and waste management.
Maintain environmental permits, records, and regulatory reports in accordance with required deadlines.
Oversee hazardous waste management , including proper storage, labeling, and disposal in compliance with RCRA .
Support spill prevention, response, and remediation efforts.
Conduct internal environmental audits and coordinate third-party inspections as required.
Emergency Response & Preparedness
Maintain and update emergency response plans, including fire prevention, spill response, and evacuation procedures.
Coordinate and conduct emergency drills and training.
Serve as a point of contact for emergency services when required.
Continuous Improvement
Participate in 6S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety) initiatives to maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace.
Recommend process improvements to reduce safety risks and environmental impact.
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related EHS field.
3+ years of HSE experience in manufacturing, heavy industry, or oil & gas environments.
Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA , and applicable regulatory requirements.
Experience conducting safety audits, environmental inspections, and incident investigations.
Demonstrated ability to coach employees on safe and at-risk behaviors.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications Certifications such as:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
Experience working with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
Experience with sustainability initiatives .
Exposure to site security and access control.
