Position Summary:
The Department of Surgery is seeking a part‑time Research Associate. The primary role will be to enhance an existing cardiac surgical video analysis pipeline by expanding anatomy recognition models to support AI‑assisted surgery.
Job Details:
Grade: 102
Job Type: Support Staff – Non‑Union (Temporary)
End Date if Temporary: 06/30/2027
Hours Per Week: 5
Standard Work Schedule: Mon – Fri (9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
Building: Columbia University Medical Center
Salary Range: $20.00 – $27.86 per hour (good faith estimate)
Responsibilities:
Assist with maintaining and augmenting the existing pipeline of surgical video analysis modules.
Assist developing a pipeline using Segment Anything 2 for semi‑automated anatomy segmentation.
Assist other module development related to AI‑assisted cardiac surgery.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with deep learning projects; familiarity with PyTorch.
Currently enrolled in a graduate or Ph.D. program.
Other Requirements:
Intermediate coding experience in Python.
