Position Summary The Department of Surgery is seeking a Temporary Research Associate to assist with cardiac surgery research. The individual will develop novel cardiac surgical approaches based on clinical outcome studies and advance cardiac database analysis. In particular, the individual will be trained in advanced biostatistics and clinical data extraction.
We seek a highly motivated, meticulous, and organized individual who can develop and pursue innovative ideas, while working in collaboration with other lab members and outside collaborators.
Responsibilities
Perform biostatistical analysis.
Perform advanced EMR queries and data extraction.
Maintain mitral valve surgery and perfusion databases.
Discuss the results with the PI and other lab members.
Attend/present at seminars and conferences and participate in various collaborations.
Continuously learn and acquire new knowledge and skills for successful execution of the projects.
Develop innovative ideas to promote his/her own professional career.
Apply for grants whenever appropriate mechanisms become available.
Additional responsibilities include academic research, (participation in clinical and/or basic research) in accordance with our compliance and excellence in quality care programs, to include active participation in the education of research fellows, residents and medical students. Responsibilities include participation in the academic and research missions of the University and the Department of Surgery.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Degree.
Preferred Qualifications
BA/BS Degree.
Other Requirements
Clinical experience in medical settings.
Research experience.
Familiarity with biostatistics.
