Advanced Practice Social Worker or Clinical Social Worker - Juvenile Treatment
Join the State of Wisconsin in the Department of Health Services (DHS). This role will be based at the Mendota Juvenile Treatment Center.
Introduction The Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI) is an inpatient psychiatric facility on the north side of Madison.
Position Summary
Advanced Practice Social Worker:
Provide full social work services, evaluation, treatment, documentation, discharge and aftercare planning.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker:
Work with the multidisciplinary team, provide psychotherapeutic services without direct supervision, involve individual, family, group counseling, advocacy and facilitation of organizational change.
Responsibilities
Provide training and supervision to social worker students and supervise social workers working toward licensure.
Engage in psychotherapeutic activities and provide services under direct clinical supervision (for advanced practice) or independently (for clinical).
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, perform casework services: assessment, collateral information, admissions, discharge and aftercare.
Act as liaison with treatment team, patient families and community agencies; conduct psychoeducation and treatment monitoring.
Develop social service and psychotherapy treatment goals; coordinate release planning.
Salary Starting salary: $38.24/hour (approx. $79,500 annually) to $44.63/hour (approx. $92,800 annually) based on years of licensure.

3 years: $38.95 / $41.79
5 years: $39.66 / $42.50
7 years: $40.37 / $43.21
9 years: $41.08 / $43.92
11 years: $41.79 / $44.63
12‑month probationary period required.

Qualifications
Certification or eligibility for certification as an Advanced Practice Social Worker in WI.
Certification or eligibility for licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in WI (within 3 months of obtaining certification or licensure).
Experience with treatment, discharge planning, and psychotherapy.
Well‑qualified candidates may also have:
Experience with civil or forensic patients having mental illness and co‑occurring substance use issues.
Experience with case management and interdisciplinary teamwork.
