Position Code: 19013‑SW. Position Number: 278R0050. Pay Band 3. Salary Range: $40,000 to $45,000, commensurate with experience. Non‑exempt, full‑time, grant‑funded – continuation contingent on funding.
Location: Warsaw Campus, Richmond County; occasional travel to Glenns Campus. Work Schedule: TBD. Telework options available subject to business needs.
About the College Rappahannock Community College (RCC) was founded in 1970. It offers high‑quality, accessible, affordable education to a 12‑county service region on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay. RCC delivers for‑credit transfer and career technical programs, robust distance education, quality dual enrollment, and award‑winning workforce training and credentialing. In 2024‑2025, the college served roughly 3,700 credit students and 800 workforce and community development students with nearly 140 full‑time and 200 part‑time/adjunct employees.
Role Overview This position supports Student Support Services (SSS) and Upward Bound (UB) Programs – federal TRiO Programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Responsibilities include academic, career, and financial counseling to students, coordination of tutoring, workshops, and college tours, and management of program records.
Responsibilities
General office administrative duties.
Scheduling student appointments with staff.
Identifying potential program participants and answering detailed questions about RCC, SSS, and UB/TRiO programs.
Monitoring, balancing, processing, recording, and reporting all monthly expenditures for both grant budgets.
Completing purchasing tasks and developing purchase orders for expenditures.
Maintaining database and student record retention.
Preparing reports.
Assisting in coordinating and carrying out workshops, events, and activities.
Travel: Occasional travel payable by the college, including lodging and per diem.
Qualifications and Experience
Administrative support experience.
Knowledge and ability to use purchasing systems.
High accuracy in completing and maintaining student and fiscal records.
Experience entering information into, and extracting reports from, databases.
Attention to detail and strong oral and written communication skills.
Problem‑solving, time‑management, and multitasking abilities.
Team‑player demonstrated through collaboration.
Confidentiality of records and information.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Light lifting up to 10 pounds.
Excellent word‑processing skills and openness to new technologies.
Research and report‑writing experience.
Experience with Virginia’s eVA purchasing system.
Prior office environment experience.
