The City of Wichita’s Law Department is seeking a Clerk 2 – Domestic Violence to provide essential clerical and administrative support within the Domestic Violence Unit. In this part‑time role, you will assist with data entry, customer service, and important office tasks that help ensure the smooth operation of services for domestic violence cases.
While primarily focused on tasks such as updating court data, maintaining victim contact information, and preparing notifications for victims, this role also involves meaningful public contact. You will assist in calling victims to remind them of court hearings, handle victim questionnaires, and provide support to the Domestic Violence Victim Advocate when necessary.
This position is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, proficiency in office procedures, and a desire to contribute to a team that assists victims of domestic violence. You will be handling sensitive information with care and professionalism, making this both a rewarding and impactful role in the City of Wichita's justice system.
Days and Hours Monday - Friday 8:00am - 12:00pm

Responsibilities
Types memoranda, letters, reports, articles, tabulations, forms, checks, or other material from copy or draft.
May sort departmental mail, file correspondence, and check vouchers or index cards, alphabetically or numerically as required.
Operates a copying machine to make copies of written documents.
Delivers messages and mail and picks up supplies.
Updates court data/information with victim contact information.
Assists with maintenance of grant statistics for grant reporting.
Calls victims to remind them of court hearings.
Completes victim questionnaires soliciting input from victims to provide to the court and prosecutor.
Assists with printing and mailing of notifications to domestic violence victims.
Returns phone messages left for Domestic Violence Victim Advocate.
Serves as backup in a limited clerical capacity if the Domestic Violence Advocate is absent.
As needed, attends court hearings, interacting with victims and providing information to the prosecutor and court.

Qualifications
Knowledge of standard computer keyboard configurations and ability to access, interpret, and record information using a video display terminal and electronic keyboard.
Working knowledge of proper grammar, spelling, punctuation.
Some knowledge of office practices and procedures.
Skill in typing rapidly and accurately.
Ability to develop skills in the operation of office machines.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of basic record-keeping methods requiring thorough attention to detail in entering and retrieving information from multiple databases.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with other employees and the public.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
Required Experience and Training
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
One year of experience in performing clerical duties which includes public contact work, maintenance of simple records and telephone answering.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.
