Sunrise Dermatology, a part of the AQUA Dermatology portfolio, has remained dedicated to providing the highest level of comprehensive, personalized dermatologic care for patients of all ages in south Alabama and along the Gulf Coast since 2011. We are a full-service dermatology practice specializing in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. With two fellowship‑trained Mohs surgeons on staff, we offer on‑site diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers at our Skin Cancer Surgery Center.
This non‑regulated position will work with an assigned doctor during Mohs procedures. The duties include Mohs histology procedures, tracking all submitted specimens for processing and diagnosis, and recording the necessary quality assurance and quality control for the Mohs Lab.
Responsibilities
Is responsible for specimen handling, storage, preservation, and identification; freezing tissue and cutting frozen sections with a microtome; staining and placing tissue on slides; and prepping reagents.
Is responsible for the disposal of stains and the upkeep of the work area.
Keeps equipment operational by following operating instructions and troubleshooting breakdowns to ensure optimal performance.
Updates OSHA and CLIA records.
Maintains patient identification.
Documents in EMR as appropriate.
Troubleshooting with fellow technicians and resolving problems by examining and evaluating data and selecting appropriate corrective steps.
Conforms to all applicable HIPAA and safety guidelines.
Other duties as assigned.

LOCATION - Mobile (Training may take place in both Mobile and Daphne)
QUALIFICATIONS Education - Must have a bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology or have an associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution
Experience - Experience in a CLIA‑certified laboratory setting (Preferred). 1-2 years of experience in skin pathology or as a histo‑tech (Preferred)
Familiarity with common medical terminology Communication - Excellent oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively. Bilingual is not required, but preferred
Work Style - Must work well independently but ask for help when needed, analyze and interpret information, and interact and decipher information telephonically and electronically.
