Overview
The Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club's VISTA project, “Expanding Community Outreach for Youth Gang Prevention,” is designed to build our fundraising capacity, youth outreach capacity, and volunteer management capacity. Our Club employs a research-driven program for preventing youth gang joining called Gang Prevention Through Targeted Outreach (GPTTO). The program includes outreach to the hardest-to-reach children and youth at risk of joining a gang, ages 8 to 18. The main goal is to serve as many at-risk children and youth as possible to reduce youth gang joining in coastal GA. Member duties and program details are described below.
Responsibilities
Grants Coordinator
– use oral and written communication and technology skills to locate grants, write grant proposals and grant reports, and maintain a schedule that increases our capacity for grants funding and meeting goals for new grant awards over the service year. Community Outreach & Volunteer Management Coordinator
– visit community organizations to generate interest in referring at-risk youth to the Club, maintain and develop relationships, and track the number of youths referred. Participate in volunteer recruitment and become familiar with the current program, observe where processes can be improved in recruitment, training and management, and make recommendations to the VISTA Supervisor.
