About the Job In this position, you will provide supervision in the Police Department's Records and ID Section. You will also coordinate assigned activities with other departments, outside agencies, and the public, and provide highly responsible, complex technical support to higher level supervisory or management staff.

Job Posting Statement This position is subject to budget required furloughs to be implemented in the 2026 calendar year, and any furloughs subsequently approved.

As a Records Supervisor you will

Supervise the work of the Records and ID section.

Establish goals and objectives for staff and monitor progress regularly, implementing strategies to assist goals. Evaluate staff for success in completion of strategies.

Train new records and ID technicians as needed.

Provide quality service to internal and external customers by handling complaints, providing guidance on all software systems, and conducting background checks for potential employees and volunteers.

Review and correct reports and compare against other databases. Complete IBR checks as necessary. Ensure reports identified by detectives and officers are merged immediately. Assist law enforcement personnel with any questions.

Review petitions to seal and determine if the charges are on the record of the petitioner. Seal case report and delete charges and all associated information upon receiving an order of seal.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of modern office procedures, methods, and equipment, including computers and supporting software.

Knowledge of proper English usage, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Qualifications

Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade (a high school diploma or GED).

Three years of full-time professional experience in a related field, including one year of administrator and/or supervisory experience.

Must be able to obtain NCIC/CCIC (OSN) certification upon hire.

One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education, or one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.

5 to 10 years full-time experience working in a law enforcement agency in a support capacity.

Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others in a complex and detailed environment.

Experience in drafting policy documents.

Experience dealing with aggressive or angry persons.

Proven experience beyond the basic ability to use Microsoft Office products.

This position does require shift work and must be able to work overtime as necessary.

Physical Demands This position requires the ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, or negligible amounts constantly walking or standing to a significant degree.
