This special (at-will) position is grant-funded through December 2026 with the possibility of extension.

About the Job The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Drug Enforcement Administration, Colorado Springs Resident Office, Southern Colorado Drug Task Force. This position is through the Colorado Springs Police Department, funded through the High Intensity Trafficking Area (HIDTA) grant, and assigned to the Southern Colorado Drug Task Force.

Responsibilities

Performs a wide variety of secretarial, complex clerical, and clerical accounting duties in support of the Southern Colorado Drug Task Force.

Screen, prioritize, and route incoming mail, phone calls, and visitors for the Task Force.

Complete arrest packets and required paperwork, which includes collecting information from various law enforcement and court databases, including the use of NCIC/CCIC.

Complete necessary statistical and monthly reports.

Completes summary reports on asset seizures, arrest data, and memorandums for the transfer or destruction of evidence.

Complete and maintain confidential source packets and filings.

Compose and type memos and letters relevant to arrests, evidence, confidential sources, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Basic computer experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Proficiency in data entry.

Ability to work independently.

Strong organizational skills.

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Knowledge of modern office procedures, methods, and equipment, including computers and supporting software.

Ability to communicate clearly and maintain effective working relationships.

Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multitask.

Qualifiers

Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED).

Three years of full-time, professional experience in a related field.

Colorado driver's license within 30 days of hire.

Possess or have the ability to obtain NCIC/CCIC certification within three months of hire.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Experience with NCIC/CCIC.

Experience in a law enforcement environment.

Note In addition to the background process required by the Colorado Springs Police Department, you will be required to successfully pass a DHS (Department of Homeland Security) and DEA background check.

Education and Experience Equivalency One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education (OR) one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.

Pre-employment Requirements The job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a polygraph examination, fingerprinting, an extensive background check, and other pre-employment assessments.
