Position Overview Records Supervisor – Police Department, Records and ID Section. Supervises the work of the Records and ID section, coordinates assigned activities with other departments, outside agencies, and the public, and provides highly responsible, complex technical support to higher level supervisory or management staff.

Responsibilities

Supervises the work of the Records and ID section.

Establishes goals and objectives for staff, monitors progress regularly, implements strategies, and evaluates staff for success in completing strategies.

Trains new records and ID technicians as needed.

Provides quality service to internal and external customers by handling complaints, providing guidance on all software systems, and conducting background checks for potential employees and volunteers.

Reviews and corrects reports and compares against other databases; completes IBR checks as necessary; ensures reports identified by detectives and officers are merged immediately; assists law enforcement personnel with any questions.

Reviews petitions to seal and determines if the charges are on the record of the petitioner; seals case report and deletes charges and all associated information upon receiving an order of seal.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of modern office procedures, methods, and equipment, including computers and supporting software.

Knowledge of proper English usage, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Minimum Qualifications

Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED).

Three years of full-time professional experience in a related field, including one year of administrator and/or supervisory experience.

Must be able to obtain NCIC/CCIC (OSN) certification upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

5 to 10 years full-time experience working in a law enforcement agency in a support capacity.

Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others in a complex and detailed environment.

Experience in drafting policy documents.

Experience dealing with aggressive or angry persons.

Proven experience beyond the basic ability to use Microsoft Office products.

Pre-employment Requirements The job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a polygraph examination, fingerprinting, extensive background check, and other pre-employment assessments. Applicants that have used marijuana or CBD products within 3 months from the date of their application submission will not be eligible for hire.

Physical Demands This position requires the ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, or negligible amounts constantly walking or standing to a significant degree.
