CDOC (Social Worker / Counselor III) Sex Offender Treatment Provider - Canon City, CO Position within the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) providing intensive treatment to sex offenders in the Sex Offender Treatment & Monitoring Program (SOTMP) with responsibilities including assessment, treatment planning, therapy facilitation, crisis intervention, and collaboration with parole board and community providers.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and modify individual treatment plans for inmates in SOTMP

Conduct psycho‑sexual evaluations for community corrections, parole board, and other treatment providers

Prepare parole board assessments and participate in periodic support education meetings

Participate in standardized training workshops on dynamics of sex offenders

Provide crisis intervention and consultation to correctional staff on high‑risk sex offender behaviors

Review records and interview inmates to assess sexual violence level, treatment needs, and amenability

Conduct individual and group therapy using Risk–Need–Responsivity (RNR) model and supplemental interventions

Maintain accurate documentation and evaluate treatment progress regularly

Minimum Qualifications

Valid, active license from the State of Colorado as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Psychologist, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

One year of licensed or license‑candidate experience with mental‑health and/or sex‑offender population (e.g., LSW, LPCC, SWC, or LMFT candidate)

Required Competencies

Self‑control and ability to work in stressful, potentially violent environments

Stamina to remain alert, emotionally stable, and mentally resilient under pressure

Strong crisis assessment and counseling skills using agency protocols

Excellent written and verbal communication; proficiency in English

Interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with offenders

Accessibility‑friendly documentation skills (plain language)

Preferred Qualifications

Mental‑health counseling experience with inmate population and crisis intervention

Experience conducting suicide risk assessments

Listing with SOMB as a treatment provider

Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team
