Full-Time
– 184 days/6.5 hrs/day
Duties:
Assists in the instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room or center-based settings.
Managing behavior (redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student from the classroom).
Monitoring and recording student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.).
Managing physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Personal Care Assistant certification completed within 30 days of start date.
Completed 60 semester/90 quarter credits or obtained an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution, or passed the ParaEducator exam or ParaPro exam (documentation required).
Good communications, interpersonal and record‑keeping skills.
Ability/desire to work with technology and computers.
Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff.
Ability to supervise students.
Ability to take direction.
Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
Ability to perform position responsibilities, including physical factors, work devices, materials handling, data functions and people functions – such as toileting, feeding and self‑care procedures, implementing a behavioral management program, maintaining student data, and working with students who may display aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate verbal and/or physical behavior.
Must be physically working in the building.
Rate Of Pay: $20.00/hour to $25.30/hour (DOQ with K-12 experience)
$21.15/hour to $26.45/hour (with AA/AAS degree or 60 semester/90 quarter credits, DOQ with K-12 experience)
$22.00/hour to $27.30/hour (with BA degree from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K-12 experience)
Special Ed Paras serving center‑based students and classrooms ≥ 50% of their time receive an additional $0.50 per hour. Special Ed Paras at Two Rivers Transition Program or River Trail Learning Center receive an additional $1.00 per hour.
