Summary:
Seeking a candidate for an experienced Engineer, Senior Engineer, Staff Engineer (Civil/Geotechnical) to take a lead role responsible for all engineering and geotechnical aspects of the station geotechnical program. The incumbent will provide technical expertise to ensure day‑to‑day operation, monitoring and maintenance of high‑pressure tunnels, drainage tunnels, dam safety monitoring, civil structure site assessment, and maintenance and repair are performed at the highest standard. As a senior team member, the incumbent will guide and train Bath team members. Core responsibilities include: overseeing and performing data collection and analysis; developing instrumentation and equipment specifications; performing civil structure, tunnel and dam safety inspections; regulatory reporting; reviewing emergency action plans; developing maintenance and repair plans; performing slope stability analyses for cut slopes, embankment slopes and sediment pond slopes using hand and computer methods; acting as subject‑matter expert for station management and other groups in civil/geotechnical engineering and dam safety; providing engineering support to station operations and maintenance personnel; and performing other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities The incumbent will be responsible for all engineering and geotechnical aspects of the station’s program, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining叒 safety and operational standards across high‑pressure tunnels, drainage tunnels, and dam structures. Key tasks include data collection and analysis, instrumentation design, structural inspections, regulatory reporting, and maintenance planning.
Qualifications
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering (engineering technology degrees not acceptable). Preferably a Civil Engineering degree with a Geotechnical, Hydrology/Hydraulics and/or Dam Engineering focus.
Preferred (not required) a current valid Professional Engineer license and the ability to obtain a PE license by reciprocity in Virginia and other states where Dominion operates.
5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles.
Skilled in advanced techniques and modification of theories, precepts, and practices.
Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as a team project lead.
Strong personal computer skills and proficiency with engineering software for calculations, reports, presentations, database development and data review.
Strong planning, organizational and project management skills.
Ability to analyze problems and provide solutions (demonstrated results).
Ability to work safely in a plant environment including confined spaces, around water, at elevated heights, and in underground tunnels.
Strong written and oral communication skills, including technical writing.
Knowledge of hydrogeology principles.
Knowledge or experience with FERC regulated dams or dam safety.
Knowledge of business/financial and contractual matters.
Ability to perform significant fieldwork outdoors in a rugged environment independently.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
