We have a unique opportunity for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Morristown, NJ or New York City supporting the Northeast Region.

Responsibilities include leading projects in the development and implementation of geotechnical data collection programs, geotechnical analyses, preparation of reports, development of contract documents, and providing support during project construction. You will have the opportunity to follow projects from concept development through the construction phase with our engineers. This position requires a geotechnical engineer who has a keen interest in mentoring junior staff, who wants to function as part of a large interdisciplinary design team, who can interact with existing and prospective clients, who can provide support to business development efforts, and who will assist the regional business group and geotechnical leadership in advancing the technical capabilities of the regional office and global geotechnical group.

Technical skills required to serve in this role include, but are not necessarily limited to, knowledge and experience in the following areas

Exploration methods, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, and laboratory testing for soil and rock;

Design of typical geotechnical structures, such as shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, embankment and cut slopes, and ground improvement;

Preparation of technical reports;

Familiarity with computer programs for geotechnical analyses, such as SETTLE3D, LPILE, SLIDE or SLOPE, MATHCAD, FB-Multipier, PLAXIS, and FLAC;

Preparation of design drawings and specifications.

Qualifications

At least 10 years of geotechnical consulting experience with a focus on dam, levee, or related projects

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Experience in field assignments that include observation of explorations (soil and rock borings, test pits, CPT soundings, geophysical testing) and laboratory testing of soils and rock

Design and installation of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; and inspection of earth retaining structures, deep foundations inspection and testing (drilled shafts, driven piles), and shallow foundations, and trenchless pipe installation

Preparation of technical reports, design drawings, and specifications

Experience with Plaxis is a plus

BS in Civil Engineering

MS with concentration in Geotechnical Engineering (preferred)

Professional Engineering (PE) license (preferred)

The base salary range for this position is $130,000.00 to $230,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
