Overview Senior Preconstruction Manager – Hanwha Qcells USA Corp (Qcells USA) – Remote, traveling up to 25% from Ankeny, IA. The role reports to the Director of Preconstruction and focuses on leading self‑perform Preconstruction projects for MW‑scale ground‑mount PV and ESS power plants.

Essential Job Function & Responsibilities

Leadership

– Lead and manage multiple preconstruction managers through the preconstruction life‑cycle of projects, fostering a collaborative high‑performance work environment.

Mentoring

– Coach and develop preconstruction managers, providing regular feedback and opportunities for professional growth.

Estimation & Cost Management

– Coordinate with the Estimating department to ensure deliverables align with project schedules and requirements.

Project Planning & Risk Evaluation

– Assist in creating comprehensive execution plans, identifying risks and mitigation strategies.

Contract Management

– Draft Owner‑requested LNTPs, collaborate with legal and contract managers, and ensure deliverables meet project schedules.

Commercial Negotiations

– Engage in negotiations with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to secure favorable terms and pricing.

Stakeholder Engagement

– Communicate with internal and external stakeholders, clients, engineers, regulatory agencies, and AHJs to align project expectations.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field (preferred).

Graduate degree in engineering or related field (highly preferred).

PMP certification preferred.

Minimum 3 years’ experience in engineering, construction, or related industry.

Minimum 1 year’s experience in solar development.

Track record of designing and building large‑scale solar power plants, preferably in the Americas.

Deep understanding of all phases of renewable power plant development (engineering, procurement, construction, project management).

Experience with developer RFP processes and EPC cost estimation.

Proficiency with solar EPC tools and current industry best practices.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and cross‑cultural leadership skills.

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Physical Demands

Stationary work up to 90% of the time; sitting up to 8 hours.

Occasional bending, walking, and light lifting up to 10 lb.

Regular computer use for document and email communication.

Estimated travel up to 25% as needed.

Work Environment

Professional office setting with moderate noise levels.

Potential site visits with higher noise levels.

Role may transition between remote, onsite, or hybrid arrangements based on business needs.
