POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for covering the main entrance desk at the Grempler Building, greeting the public, answering the phones and monitoring email. An employee in this position will report to the Commander of the Community Services Bureau and will support the functions and various Sections of the Youth and Outreach Divisions. They will have regular clerical and administrative duties.

STARTING SALARY HIRING RANGE: $20.03 - $22.58

$41,670 - $46,961

CLASS DESCRIPTION: Performs intermediate technical level administrative support work under general supervision from an administrative or technical superior. Work typically involves performing clerical and secretarial work, such as data entry and document management, file maintenance of secure and confidential records, and public contact and service. Work may also include accounting clerical tasks such as bookkeeping, keeping of financial and other important records; preparing vouchers for payment; documenting and depositing cash receipts; and controlling, recording, and storing data. Work at this level may also include independent responsibility for a routine clerical process. Include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

Works and cooperates with co-workers and supervisors at all levels.

Learns and performs all essential job functions accurately.

Maintains and updates Community Outreach Division and Youth Division Calendar of events.

Greet the public. Assist citizens who come into the facility with police related inquiries.

Answer Community Outreach main phone line.

Monitor incoming emails and social media accounts.

Order and maintain office supplies.

Research and order community policing giveaways.

Assist with community and staff meetings including facility scheduling and document preparation.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibility. High school Diploma or GED and three (3) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

NCIC/METERS certification.

Strong computer literacy, especially with Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong customer service skills and experience.

Ability to prepare and present ideas in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Possession of a valid driver’s license.
