Maintenance Specialist I – Nebraska State Penitentiary
Join the state of Nebraska as a Maintenance Specialist I at the Nebraska State Penitentiary in Lincoln, NE. Your pay will be based on your skills and experience.
Base Pay Range $20,000.00/yr – $20,000.00/yr
Location Lincoln, NE
Duties
Maintain the physical plant with repairs and preventive maintenance.
Perform skilled carpentry work in major renovations and construction of buildings, structures, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, walls, ceilings, doors, windows, screens, furniture, and cabinets.
Schedule and perform specialized preventive maintenance and repairs for equipment, systems, and machinery.
Supervise inmates working in the maintenance department.
Maintain accurate inventory of all stock and commonly used maintenance parts and tool logs.
Follow all policies and procedures relating to tool control and purchasing of tools, equipment, and parts. Responsible for maintenance related purchases and statement reconciliation.
Requirements / Qualifications
Associates degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, industrial engineering, HVAC, welding, or other building trade.
Experience in building maintenance, mechanical trade, or performing safety inspections, investigations, or training may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis as determined appropriate by the agency.
Applicants accepting a job offer must pass a medical exam and, at a randomly announced time, a drug test. Must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
