Overview
Join our Adult Services team as a Housing Coach. Using trauma-informed care case-management, you will assist chronically homeless mental health consumers with securing safe, affordable housing and promote independent living in a healthy environment. Your goal will be to transition special needs populations to stable, permanent housing and long-term self-sufficiency. Responsibilities
Identify causal deterrents towards self-sufficiency. Set short-term and long-term goals with participants. Assist participants in reaching their goals by applying for legal documentation, reviewing personal budgets, providing employment coaching, searching for housing, and related activities. Provide resources to participants in need, such as toiletries, food items, clothing, applications for assistance, and similar support. Organization
Westmoreland Community Action is a non-profit organization that works to connect individuals and families to opportunities and resources throughout the community to improve their quality of life and help reduce poverty. The Housing Programs work with individuals and families in Westmoreland County to help remove barriers and disparities that hinder self-sufficiency. The Housing Department offers a range of housing and supportive services interventions including emergency supplies, transitional housing, rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing, systems navigation and street outreach. Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with major course work in sociology, social work, psychology, counseling, education, or related field OR two years of experience in public or private human services, of which one year must be mental health direct care experience. Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability is a plus. Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Willingness to travel throughout Westmoreland County. Valid PA driver’s license, auto insurance, and a reasonably clean driving record. Ability to provide or obtain child abuse, state police, fingerprint-based criminal background check, and sex offender registry clearances. Compensation and Benefits
Hourly rate based on years of experience: $19.22 – $21.03. 100% employer-paid dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability policies. ICHRA health plans – choose the best plan using an allowance. 16 paid holidays, 10 days of vacation in the first year, sick time. 8% retirement match after 1 year and 1000 hours of service. Mileage reimbursement, and time and a half for holidays worked.
