Customer Service Representative / Retirement Benefits Analyst
This is a Customer Service Representative/Retirement Benefits Analyst position within the Member Services Division. Applicant must provide a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, critical thinking, and possess excellent customer service skills. Must be dependable and self‑motivated with a good attitude, good organizational skills, and the ability to work well with others.
Applicant’s work primarily entails counseling members on the phones and in person. Answers members questions regarding retirement benefits. Provides members with written estimates on available retirement options, different beneficiary designations, and all available retirement plans.

Experience
Three years of experience in employee benefits; OR
Six years of full‑time experience in any field; OR
A bachelor's degree.
Experience Substitution
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full‑time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Duties
Counsels individual members during scheduled appointments in-house. Provides scheduled appointments with written estimates on available retirement options and different beneficiary designations, including, but not limited to, DROP, IBO, regular retirement, actuarially reduced retirement, and disability retirement. Also provides the members with calculations, if applicable, that include service purchases, transfers, reciprocals, and repayment of refunds.
Completes preparatory work for appointments. This includes reviewing members’ entire files, preparing service credit reviews, verifying the final average compensation, and processing preliminary estimates prior to the appointment.
Assists walk‑ins regarding W4‑P (Tax Withholding) changes, address changes, direct deposits, requests for duplicate 1099Rs, income verification requests, DROP/IBO withdrawals, and other retirement issues, including providing estimates when appropriate.

Probational, Promotional, Detail to Special Duty, or Job Appointment.
LASERS
requires all new hires to serve a minimum of eighteen (18) months not to exceed twenty‑four (24) months in probational status including permanent state employees.
Career Progression:
This position does participate in a Career Progression Group. Retirement Benefits Analyst 1/2/3/4.
Compensation Special Entrance Rates:
Retirement Benefits Analyst 1 - $40,164.80 / annually
Retirement Benefits Analyst 2 - $43,243.20 / annually
Retirement Benefits Analyst 3 - $49,192.00 / annually
This position is a training series; therefore, if the employee development is successful, it allows the employee an opportunity to promote to an RBA 2, RBA 3, RBA 4 and Retirement Benefits Specialist.
Customer Service Retirement Benefit Analyst positions are eligible to receive premium pay for all hours worked. After 6 months of employment premium pay is $1.50. This will increase to $2.00 after 12 months of employment.
