Job Summary Manual Machinist

Responsible for modification and operation of industrial manual machinery for large pump parts to precise specifications. The Manual Machinist develops and maintains these parts utilizing knowledge of metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. Experienced with machining on equipment such as Vertical Turret Lathes and/or Manual Lathes or Horizontal Boring Mills.

Key Responsibilities

Machine and assess large pump components such as cases, impellers, wear‑rings, bearing housings, shafts, and covers.

Maintain close tolerances of +/- 0.001”.

Perform plane and bore operations of horizontal pump casings (plus).

Compute angles, radii, bolt circles and other dimensions using sufficient mathematical skills.

Read and interpret blueprints.

Operate overhead crane.

Adhere to safety and quality standards.

Experience & Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years experience as a Manual Machinist (5 years preferred).

Journeyman status as a machinist or machinist mate in the military, or equivalent work experience is desired.

Experience in the pump or rotating equipment industry is strongly considered.

Proficient with Vertical Turret Lathes, Manual Lathes, and Horizontal Boring Mills.

Must be able to hold close tolerances and read blueprints.

Basic physical examination and drug screening will be required.

Schedule

8‑hour shift, Monday to Friday.

Overtime available, shift premium.

Weekend availability when necessary.
